Tokyo

We had another slow morning, but then headed off to the Tokyo-Edo Museum, which told the history of the Tokyo area, from the Edo period (1600-1868) to the present. There were a number of large models,

full scale reconstructions, and original pieces,

and the whole show was very interesting. We saw a bit over half the exhibition, and then it was time for lunch.
We thought about taking a trip on the river-bus, but it would have been a long wait, so we walked over the river,

then went by subway to Asakusa, where we were just in time for the striking of the hour.

Across the road was the gateway to the Sensoji Temple

and it was the last day of winter, the Setsubun festival. There were lots of people and lots of stalls,

but the highlight is the appearance of TV and other celebrities on the verandah of the main hall, who throw soybeans to the crowd, shouting 'Fortune in, devils out!'

Back at the hotel we had coffee and downloaded photos, then it was time for Steve and Kaori to head back to Hanada airport and home. David and I had tea, and got ready for the morning.

We have just about mastered this bathroom, and its bath with small area but large depth.
